Looking to recruit an energetic and enthusiastic professional to add to our Kitchen Brigade. Ideally we are looking for someone with fine dining experience who wishes to bring those fine dining skills to a more informal dining experience.

This award is very close to Tom's heart having started his career in Betty's in the heart of Harrogate. He then went on to cook his way around the world, working in some of the top restaurants and developing his own skills and style before returning to his hometown to open van zeller restaurant.
Tom said: “I’m so very proud to receive this award. It was my dream to bring fine dining to Harrogate and make it accessible to everyone. I opened Van Zeller at a time of great economic uncertainty, and people said it wouldn’t work. To receive this award for the business side of restaurant is truly awesome."

We're delighted that Van Zeller's has been voted the 79th best restaurant in Britain in the country's best 200 restaurant rankings, published by The Sunday Times in partnership with Harden's. On a local level, that puts us third in Yorkshire and the only restaurant in Harrogate! Chuffed - you bet!

Tom was put through his paces as he made an appearance on ITV's Britain’s Best Dish: The Chefs, armed with his dessert of Armagnac parfait, caramelised quince, cob nut praline, Agen prune purée, Lapsang Souchong jelly, plum crisps and sorbet. (sounds fancy and oh but it is!) View the delicious recipe here and try it for yourself.
The regional heats saw Tom take on (and beat!) Andrew Nutter from Nutters restaurant, Lancashire to bring him through to the regional finals, no easy feat with demanding judges likeJohn Burton-Race, Ed Baines and Jilly Goolden . In the regional final Tom had a worthy opponent in Ian Swainson, with his sloe gin crème brulèe, which won over the judges in the end. Well done Ian!

Congratulations to all! Tom and the van Zeller team were delighted to be the winners of three much coveted awards at this year's Oliver Awards. A very happy Tom walked away with wins in the Best Service and Fine Dining categories as well as being named Overall Winner on the night.
The 2011 awards are a great source of pride for the van Zeller team and in particular for Tom, who was also crowned Best Chef at last year's ceremony. The restaurant is going from strength to strength, with more fresh faces and returning customers alike - something which is celebrated with these much appreciated awards.
